Ever since WhatsApp announced its new privacy policies, the internet is abuzz with the users migrating to alternatives. Amongst, the alternatives available to migrate from WhatsApp, its Telegram which is leading the charts ever since the debate began. So, apart from Telegram providing almost all the features that WhatsApp provides, Telegram also boasts of a feature set like none other in the industry at the moment. Below is the list of most useful five features that Telegram has which WhatsApp doesn’t.
Secret Chat
This feature is aimed at people who want their data to be completely hosted on their device rather on the Telegram server. While Telegram has a completely user friendly privacy policy which is beyond any questions, WhatsApp users expect end to end encryption, as opposed to the Telegram’s default user to server encryption. So, to ensure complete privacy of the users, Telegram provides secret chat which acts exactly like WhatsApp, i.e., your secret chats are not displayed on any other devices.
Also, Telegram makes this more interesting by allowing you to auto delete the messages by setting a timer right from one second to a week. Moreover, as the name suggests, Telegram protects the messages with the utmost care by blocking any forwarding, taking a screenshot, or screen recording of the chats.
Delete Sender’s Message :
WhatsApp and all other major messaging platforms allow you to delete your messages on the chats. WhatsApp allows you to even delete a sender’s message from your device. However, the sender will still be able to see the message that he or she sent.
Surprisingly, Telegram allows you to delete a sender’s message and if you choose to delete it for the sender too, both you and the sender will not be able to view the particular message. Though this sounds odd, this feature is again aimed at privacy fanatics.
Add nearby people and groups
Telegram provides a unique way to connect and chat with your neighbors and pals at ease. We already know Telegram works without exposing your mobile number, and that coupled with the ability to identify and chat with people near you based on their location makes it a super impressive feature.
So, the next time you run into your old school friend at a party, you can spare the formalities and start chatting ASAP. Read our article How to find new people near you on Telegram to know more on this feature.
Schedule Messages
For users who’d like to be prompt or for the users who forget things often, this is as exciting as it can get. Telegram allows you to type a message for the receiver and schedule it to be sent at a later time, just like how Gmail works. You can rest easy once you’ve scheduled it.
Also, the process is remarkably simple. All you got to do is as simple as sending a normal message, instead of pressing the send button, tap and hold it to select Schedule message and pick the date and time to deliver it.
Copy a portion of a message
It’s a Twitter world nowadays. None has time to read a complete message, especially the forwarded ones. So, Telegram allows you to copy any part of a message and paste it as you wish. You can just tap on the message and a cursor to select the required part is displayed which otherwise has to be copied and pasted on a separate notepad application to cut the required portions.
The above is just a handpicked list of most useful features from a long list of exciting features. Also, Telegram is adding a lot of other new features to focus on the privacy of the users. Stay glued to this space to read more on it.
