How to add rain effects to your music experience on iPhone?

The new iPhone OS update, iOS 15 brings in a lot of handy features and functions for you to enjoy. While most of it are already discussed in abundance online, here is an important feature that goes quite unnoticed to the majority.

The new accessibility options from the Apple iOS 15 provides a set of background sounds which you can play on top of almost all apps, video, or music experience. Though the feature is aimed at neurodivergent people who have difficulty in concentrating or focusing over a subject due to the external noises or people easily distracted by silence.

This accessibility feature will help you retain focus, maintain a self of calm and minimize distractions by playing any of the provided sounds. Currently, Apple has given users six different types of sounds to play anytime at the background: balanced noise, rain, bright noise, dark noise, ocean and stream.

To enable background sounds on your iPhone running on iOS 15:

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap Accessibility.
  3. Under the Hearing section, select Audio/Visual.
  4. Select Background Sounds.
  5. Enable Background Sounds option from the toggle button.
  6. Tap Sound.
  7. Select the sound you want to play at the background.
  8. Set the volume for the background sounds.
  9. Select if you want to hear the background sound while playing media, such as music or while watching video.
  10. Set the volume for background sound while a media is playing, if required.
  11. Set if you want the background sounds to be stopped when your phone is locked by enabling or disabling the Stop Sounds When Locked toggle button.

Though you can enable it from Settings every time, Techmye suggests you to add the shortcut to your Control Centre for easier management of the background sound.

To add shortcut to your Control Centre:

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap Control Centre.
  3. Under the More Controls, tap + against Hearing.

To play background sound using the shortcut:

  1. Play the media, i.e., music or the video of your choice.
  2. Swipe down to see the Control Centre options.
  3. Select the ear shaped button, i.e., hearing options.
  4. At the bottom of the screen, tap the Background Sounds option to enable the sounds.

Now from the options at the middle of the screen, select the sound required.
