Top 3 super cool iOS 15 tips nobody told you

iOS 15 is live now and as usual, it’s a frenzy with all the Apple fanatics all around the world. While there are enough guides on the already obvious features on the new iPhone operating system, iOS 15, Techmye brings you the top 3 list of under-recognized features which could possibly enhance your iPhone experience by miles.

Without further ado, let’s jump into the top 3 super cool features on iOS 15.

Categorize Spam and Promotion messages

How long has it been since you had an actually useful message to your iPhone? Should be ages easily. Yeah, that’s why Apple has decided to let you allow categorizing the business messages automatically and store them separately under Transactions and Promotions folder.

However, for iPhone to know which are actually business messages and which aren’t, you need to install a third-party filter app. Though Apple by default categorizes all non-10 digit numbers as Promotions and Transactions, it is better you install a popular filter app like Truecaller.

Once you are done installing Truecaller, follow the below steps to filter messages:

To enable message categorization:
  1. From your iPhone, go to Settings.
  2. Go to Messages.
  3. Go to Unknown & Spam.
  4. Enable the Filter Unknown Senders toggle button.
  5. Select Truecaller from the options below.

From now on, all your promotional messages and spam messages will be automatically categorized under either Promotions or Transactions folder in your Messages app. As for the OTPs, you need not worry about it, your iPhone will auto detect it as usual.

To view the promotion and transaction messages:
  1. From your iPhone, go to Messages.
  2. Go to Filters.
  3. Under Filtered by Truecaller, select Transactions or Promotions.

Customize Message Notifications

The trouble with the spam messages isn’t actually over unless you are not really done with it. Though your categorizing effort is laudable, it is only half done. You will have to finish it completely to have a peaceful experience free of promotions and useless spam messages. To do so, you’ll have to customize the notifications.

To customize the message notifications:
  1. From your iPhone, go to Settings.
  2. Go to Notifications.
  3. Go to Messages.
  4. Go to Customize Notifications.

Enable or disable the notifications for Transactions and Promotions message types.

Rain or precipitation alert

Its that season of the year where you’d need an umbrella any day, any time of the day. Your iPhone is now powered to save you the trouble of you manually checking it. Thanks to Dark Sky! You can turn on the notifications for new precipitation alerts on your default Weather app and get real time alerts on a possibility of rain or precipitation in your city.

To enable notifications for rain or precipitation:
  1. From your iPhone, go to Weather.
  2. Tap the hamburger menu at the bottom right.
  3. On the top right, click More menu.
  4. Tap Notifications.
  5. Enable the toggle button for your location.
  6. Tap Done.

Similarly, you can do so for multiple cities.
